Required for Waste Approval and Shipment
EMI requires that
each new shipment of metals-bearing waste that
is proposed for storage and/or consolidation at the facility be accompanied by
a properly executed and approved "Waste
Profile Form (WPF)". EMI requires that the
Generator or his/her authorized representative complete
and sign the WPF. The need for analytical testing of this
waste stream may be waived based on the generator’s
knowledge of the waste source. EMI will issue a EMI
Authorization number for the waste stream prior to
scheduling and acceptance of the waste at the EMI
facility.
Proper
shipping papers must accompany all wastes received at EMI.
All hazardous wastes are shipped on a hazardous waste
manifest with a properly executed Facility
Land Ban Notification (FLBN) form. EMI-approved
transporters must examine their shipping papers to
determine accurate drum counts, quantities, waste types,
approval numbers, etc. to detect any discrepancies that
could be corrected prior to arrival at EMI. Only shipments
accompanied by proper/complete shipping papers, WPF, FLB,
and EMI approval number are accepted at EMI.

Acceptance,
Treatment and Disposal of This
Waste Stream
EMI accepts
metals-bearing waste from various generators and sources.
The pre-approval process for metals-bearing waste includes review of the "Waste
Profile Form" and laboratory analysis, if
requested by EMI.
These waste streams would be sent for disposal from the
EMI facility either in the same container as received or
may be consolidated into 30 cubic yard roll–off containers. The roll-offs are lined leak proof containers. Once bulking or consolidation has been completed, the containers are covered with tarps to prevent any accumulation of precipitation prior to transport to a properly licensed hazardous waste disposal facility
where the waste typically will be treated and land filled.
